When does assessment Start (and End)?

Michiel Van Der Schyf discusses an ETD #environment and a workplace competency framework. Within the ETD assessment environment, and especially with the use of contract/freelance assessors, there more than often seems to be an ‘in-and-out’ way of thinking. This places the #AssessmentProvider in a precarious position, and even the #learner (which is the ultimate aim of benefit), as the #assessor does not take #responsibility for remedial support (to the learner AS WELL as the facilitator). The #journey of assessment and assessment practices is ongoing right up to the point where the learner obtain recognition for the learning journey (whether formal(accredited) or informal). #Remediation is the one aspect that ensures that the fairness principle of assessment is visible within the process and that there is true guidance provided by the assessor, which is the subject matter expert, registered to make judgments. Apart from the fact that this might be seen as a lack of commitment to the learning journey, it proofs that a “#TickFever” process is used and that the true essence of the subject matter is not evaluated in a way to ensure that applied ability is developed or visible. An #assessor is to be committed from the point of ‘appointment’ to the learning project, to ensure the facilitator is in line with the rules of the qualification, rules of engagement and #AdultLearningPrinciples, be responsible to support the learner throughout the learning journey up to completion. This includes #remediation of the learner as well as from the Moderator. On the other hand, there are training providers that do not create an environment conducive for constructive #AssessmentPractices, as they tend to not use freelance practitioners that ARE committed to ensure that all aspect of the #assessment cycle adheres to the relevant requirements. They find learner NYC and provide constructive #feedback to be remediated, but this delays the timelines for a provider and add to their #administration, which they believe to be a #frustration and a delay, especially for funded projects. Should I dare say it is only a ‘bums-on-seat’ vision and not to really change people’s lives?
